Committees

For information or inquires on our committees, please email the church at firstcrcstthomas@canada.com.

Care Committee
Caring for the special needs of our church family members is what the Care Committee is all about. We provide help when our members require rides, food preparation, home maintenance, grocery runs or other types of assistance that may be needed, perhaps during or after a hospital stay, medical treatments, etc. Whatever the need, we'll find the resources to provide the appropriate help.

Youth Ministries and Education Committee (YMET)
This committee meets 3 times per year and is responsible for all the Youth and Education programs of the church.

We annually review existing programs and lesson materials for their effectiveness and make changes where needed. We plan and organize the start of each program for each season and the committee is to be an ongoing support for these programs throughout the season.

The committee consists of the pastor, one elder, and a representative from each of the following programs: Catechism and Young People, Young Adults, Teen Club, GEMS, Cadets, Children and Worship, and Sunday School.

There are also about 150 videos for adults, teens and children. The library is widely used by the congregation and fills a definite need. New books and videos are added on a regular basis. The library is open after the Sunday morning worship services.

Worship Committee
The St. Thomas First CRC recognizes that it is God's will for His people to Worship Him in their everyday life and that the Sunday has been set apart as a special Lord's Day for worship. A definition of reformed worship insists on 3 elements:
1. Worship is a corporate meeting between God and God's people.
2. Worship is convened by God, at God's gracious invitation.
3. Worship should give praise to God and blessings to God's people.

The worship committee meetings are held bi-monthly and approval is required by church council for all changes in worship style and content. The committee is responsible for worship services, special services, congregational participation, evaluation, baptism and communion, greeters and ushers, sound, video, tape, visual art, and keeping informed about Reformed concepts.
